Art Intervention

1. Art intervention is an interaction with a previously existing artwork, audience or venue/space. It has the auspice of conceptual art and is commonly a form of performance art.

2.- One artist’s work that I have always felt moved by since first discovering his work is french street artist, JR. His photography and context of his street art work in an engaging beautiful form. The following are a couple pictures are from his recent Women project. These pictures particularly where from his time in Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

3. The Anthony Lister book has a few pages that display some of his Super Hero themed pieces in galleries. The super heroes are being held in captive positions, silenced, and hung. My initial application of art intervention was to use a batman mask I have and have the supper hero hanging the book. I then proceeded to putting the book with the mask, in a sense making the book itself personifies the super hero. I continued with this idea on a page where a batman dressed person is tied down to contrast the compromised figure in the book with the brave and bold connotation of the mask. I then took them and found different environments to hang them to observe how the piece’s interaction with a different environment may affect it.
